7/8/2023 0 Comments The final six alexandra monirThis is a pretty thrilling combination if you ask me. The Final Six is a mixture of Space Camp + Climate Change + Political Thriller. And some of my favorite ones involve outer space or the prospect of outer space. But the truth is, I DO like to read fun books just for the fun of it. My reviews often contain the words powerful, necessary, impactful, etc. I have a tendency to be drawn to big issue books that make a powerful statement. But it’s only when the finalists become fewer and their destinies grow nearer that the two can fathom the full weight of everything at stake: the world, the stars, and their lives. With pressure mounting, Naomi finds an unexpected friend in Leo, and the two grow closer with each mind-boggling experience they encounter. As the race to the final six advances, the tests get more challenging-even deadly.

7/8/2023 0 Comments Richard foster disciplinesThe following definition from the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia helps us to begin thinking rightly about this important discipline. We are not to rise up and demand what is coming to us but in love and humility voluntarily surrender our rights for the good and benefit of others. Yet the Scriptures present a much different ideal for those who would be disciples of Jesus Christ and it is expressed in the synonymous terms of surrender and submission. Instant gratification and exaltation of the individual’s rights and desires are societal norms that are never to be questioned. The cry of our culture is that we “deserve” to have our every need met, we should never be in pain, of any kind, and that we should never have to wait. The discipline of submission is another of the disciplines that seems to be so out of touch with the world in which we live. 7/8/2023 0 Comments The frindleThe next day all the girls wore paper flowers in their hair and all the boys wore sunglasses and beach hats. The attempt is a failure, and it leaves Mattie and Ethan crippled for life and condemned to Zeena's care. Unable to bear the idea of parting, the lovers attempt to kill themselves by sledding into a tree. This story takes place after the rise of Cthulhu and the other old gods. I can now inform you that I apparently like westerns! I’d heard wonderful things about it and it came highly recommended by the magnificent Stephen Kozeniewski so I picked it up without even checking the synopsis – I’ll be taking more recommendation in future because this book was incredible. The internet informs me that this book is very much in the style of old westerns.
